Charlotte Sting Get Top Pick in WNBA Draft: The Charlotte Sting, who narrowly missed the WNBA playoffs last season, will get the first pick in the 2005 draft. Charlotte (16-18) won the draft lottery Wednesday night, beating out the five other non-playoff teams. The Indiana Fever (15-19) will pick second, followed by the Phoenix Mercury (17-17), San Antonio Silver Stars (9-25), and Houston Comets (13-21).

WNBA 2005 Draft Order Set: The Washington Mystics will have the sixth overall pick in the 2005 WNBA Draft as determined by the draft lottery held today. The Charlotte Sting came up with the number one overall selection, followed by the Indiana Fever. The 2005 WNBA Draft will be held in April. The WNBA Lottery included the five teams that did not qualify for the 2004 WNBA Playoffs. The lottery will establish the order of selection for the first-round of the draft, with the order of selection for the second and third rounds based on each team's regular season finish during the 2004 season.

Comets Fall to Fifth in WNBA 2005 Draft: The balls did not bounce the Comets' way as teams were lined up for the 2005 WNBA draft. In a drawing December 1 2004, the Comets had the second-best shot at getting the top pick with 261 chances out of 1,000.

Ann Meyers Offseason News and Notes: The WNBA offseason gives us a chance to take a closer look at the future stars of the league as they compete in their college season . . .
