Ossie Davis

Raiford Chatman "Ossie" Davis was an actor, writer, producer, and director. Mr. Davis' career in films, television and the theater was distinguished beyond just the consideration of his talent. Ossie Davis' career spanned a time in America when being a black man held enormous challenges everyday. An activist in his youth and throughout his life, Ossie Davis met these challenges and fought racism in all areas of life with dignity, integrity and grace.

An accomplished actor, appearing in over 80 movies, Ossie Davis was a delight to hear - his rich baritone voice and presence were noteable regardless of the character he protrayed. It is without question that he will be greatly missed by the thousands who came to know him through his work and through his life. Ossie Davis engaged those whom he touched as he engaged with life itself.
